We are preferred providers for HBF, Medibank, nib, HCF, Bupa and CBHS, which generally means a smaller gap. If your fund is not one of those, we can still claim through HICAPS at the standard rate.

Paying for treatment
The money questions, answered plainly
- Can you tell me what something costs before I book?
- For an examination and clean, yes, over the phone. For anything else the honest answer is that it depends what is found, so we quote after the examination and before the treatment — itemised, in writing, with the item numbers your fund needs.
- What payment methods do you take?
- Card and cash at reception, with any health fund rebate claimed through HICAPS first so you pay the gap rather than the full fee. DVA and CDBS treatment is billed directly and generally leaves nothing to pay at the desk.
- Do you offer payment plans?
- Treatment is charged as it is done, so a plan spread over several appointments is paid across those appointments rather than up front. Where work is not urgent we will often suggest an order that splits it across two benefit years, which is usually worth more than any payment arrangement.
- Is a check-up ever free?
- Not free, but frequently no gap. Many funds cover a preventative examination and clean in full because it costs them a great deal less than the treatment it avoids. Whether yours does depends on your policy, and we can run the claim and tell you before you pay.
- Why is dental not covered by Medicare like a GP visit?
- Dentistry sits outside the general Medicare schedule in Australia, which is why private extras cover, the CDBS and DVA exist to fill parts of the gap. It is a policy question rather than a practice one, and the practical answer is to make sure you are claiming everything you are entitled to.
- What if I get a quote here and want to compare it elsewhere?
- Take the itemised quote and do exactly that — the item numbers make it a like-for-like comparison rather than a guess. We would rather you were confident about a decision than felt rushed into one, and elective treatment does not get worse for a fortnight's thought.
